Oil & Gas Drilling
Drilling for oil and gas is both technically demanding and commercially challenging. Equipment must simply perform at the highest level for a company to reach its greatest return. As a result, oil and gas drillers are often technical pioneers interested in both the latest technology and even customization when required. Before drilling to full depth, the first 30–100 meters are drilled and cased to prevent caving. Hole sizes vary from 12" to 20" or even up to 26". The Epiroc / Secoroc solution overburden Oil and Gas and Seismic operations are best supported using the TD hammers, which incorporate the latest technology and are the most reliable and highest performing hammers in the market today. TD hammers are rebuildable, and can also be adjusted to adapt to drilling conditions because of the unique AirSelect system. Conductor drillers should choose the Secoroc QL hammer, a time tested and field proven design balancing good productivity with ease of service. Note that the QL is available at larger diameters than any other hammer. Epiroc also offers a broad range of specialty bits for oil and gas utilizing the latest combination of PCD inserts. Seismic work normal hole sizes are in the 90–100 mm range, with drilling pressures of 12 bar. For these operations, either the Epiroc / Secoroc COP 32 or TD 35 are the optimum choices.
